A CCTV image of a man wanted in connection with thefts at a Mansfield office supplies store has been issued by police.

The man entered Staples in Portland Retail Park and took various ‘high value’ items before leaving without paying at around 6.45pm on 8th June.

He is described as white, mid-30s with a dark ponytail. He was wearing a dark hooded zip-up jumper and jeans.

Toner Giant show the way

An online retailer which supplies computer printers, paper, ink, cartridges and accessories today posted a 67 per cent increase in annual turnover after seeing sales to business customers rocket.

NetGiant, based near Leigh, operates CartridgeMonkey.com, which was launched in 2004 and targets home users, and TonerGiant.co.uk, launched at the end of 2006, aimed at the business-to-business market.

Founder and managing director Gary Flynn, whose background is in the paper industry, started the company in his garage. NetGiant posted revenues of £7.5m for the 12 months to July, up from £4.5m the year before, with most of its growth driven by Toner Giant, which offers a range of more than 5,000 products. … Continue Reading

Staples cut costs to increase profits

Americans and small businesses spent cautiously on office supplies, but belt-tightening by Staples Inc. helped its second-quarter net income rise 40 percent.

CEO Ron Sargent said Tuesday that despite the “challenging” backdrop, business seems to be slowly improving even as the economy remains uncertain.

“What we are seeing is slow steady improvement in our business, and I think the whole economy hinges on getting people back to work over time,” he said. “It’s going to be a slow, steady slog from here on out, and at Staples all we can do is focus on things we can control.”

The nation’s biggest office supply chain said Tuesday that net income for the three months ended July 31 rose 40 percent to $129.8 million, or 18 cents per share, from $92.4 million, or 13 cents per share, last year.

Net income was 20 cents per share excluding a restructuring charge. That matched analyst expectations, on average, according to a poll by Thomson Reuters. … Continue Reading

Office Depot to sell postal products

Despite widespread opposition to closing post offices, the U.S. Postal Service is moving ahead with plans to expand its retail footprint into thousands of Office Depot stores.

The nation’s second-largest retailer of office supplies has started selling postal products and services at almost 1,100 locations, offering Priority Mail and Express Mail services, Priority Mail flat-rate boxes, and postage stamps.
